Pamalama, the message didn’t say anything about a
post being made “at the last minute”. I’m a
member of kcmom2mom too, and I got a message from
living_by_faith the day before the contest ended so
I’m guessing a number of other people did too. I
think that’s what was meant by “reaching out to the
community”. I didn’t see the board post on
kcmom2mom but I did respond to the message and vote. So
your ‘logic’ is all wet. I’m still waiting for
somebody to explain how all these hundreds, or
thousands, or whatever it was, votes were cast by one
person at “the last minute”. If somebody created
400 fake email names (which is the number some other
poster mentioned), and each one took five minutes to
create and vote with, do you realize that’s 33
HOURS!! Doesn’t sound like anything that could be
done at the “last minute”. I’m beginning to agree
with Zella, I think the real problem people are having
is the subject matter of this video. That’s sad.

Whatever caused your last minute jump, it wasn't
mom2momkc. I'm on that board and you didn't post it at
the last minute at all. In fact, here it is:
/>Motherhood video!
by living_by_faith on Wed Dec

Also, your post only has
36 views and no replies as of now, so even if all of
those people voted, it wouldn't be even close to the
number of votes you suddenly got.

I appreciate the support, but the negative comments
don’t upset me. It’s a natural reaction I suppose.
People might not realize this video was in second or
third place for almost the entire contest, until the
next to last day, and even then it was never more than
a few points out of second. Coming down to the wire, I
reached out to the community at mom2momkc.com, and more
importantly, spammed my friends relentlessly, including
a big push on the last day. If you’re on my friends
list, you know this is true -- and I apologize : )/>
Even after the outcome was known, I sent an
email to Mazuma telling them I had no objections if
they wanted to re-run the contest after putting in some
kind of ‘safeguards’. You can send an email to
Mazuma and confirm this if you wish. There were many
good videos in the contest, which represented much hard
work, as did mine. All that said, once again I thank
everyone for their support. Thanks also to Mazuma. If
it’s any solace, the equipment that will be replaced
by the prize will be donated to a worthy charity.

It's obvious that the negative posts are all coming
from the same person, logging in under different names.

It's equally obvious that this person's
real (but unstated) issue is the subject matter of the
video itself (motherhood).

I'm afraid this
says more about the poster than it does the video./>
Friend, I urge you to seek some counseling.

Judging by the number of registered users 6 percentage
points was most likely the difference between 100-200
people.

This simply looks fishy. Maybe the
submitter got all these people to vote for them at the
last second. If so, let me be the first to say
congratulations. If not, let me also be one of the
many skeptics who say congratulations as well;
congratulations for finding some kind of loophole. At
the very least, those who finished below you (and above
you) did so without manipulating the system.
/>I don't know where the truth lies, but even the
submitter has to realize how bad this looks to the
naked eye. And my guess, judging from Mazuma's email,
is that they saw something from their end to warrant
some kind of investigation. It stinks that we will
most likely never know the truth, but I guess the
simple fact of it all is that if this submitter spent
the time and energy to register 400+ users and vote for
her own video then more power to her. I suppose she's
the one who has to live with herself, not me.

Sounds like the only difference between any of ‘em is
this person waited until the finish line was in sight
before making their move. It’s a smart strategy, and
it caught their competition flat-footed.
/>People are always going to scream when they don’t
get something they think they’re entitled to. Get
used to it, there’ll be plenty more of it over the
next four years.

Guess math wasn’t your strong suit robwill692. There
were six percentage points separating places 2-6 going
into the final day. A couple dozen votes one way or
another were going to swing it. Everybody operated
under the same system. All the conspiracy theorists
need to take a deep breath…

It has already been said that the contest was ruined by
obvious cheating! That goes without saying when a video
goes from 5th to 2nd in less than 24 hours! And
obviously Mazuma is going to let it go rather than
disqualifing those who are in question! Makes me wonder
if I would want to associate myself with such a
business or even a web site in the future! And don't
bother replying to this message as I won't be back to
read it!

Actually ptmass, look up the term 'fair use' on Google.
Public monuments are absolutely protected by copyright
unless the photo/video is for private, personal use
(e.g. vacation photos). As soon as the photo/video
enters the commercial realm (e.g. a contest), the full
copyright is in force. According to your logic, sounds
like it's OK to cheat as long as you're ignorant of the
legal statues.

There are no copyright violations in his video. If
there were, every picture of every monument in the
country would be a copyright infringement. The feds
are after you for your vacation photos! Use some common
sense. One cannot prohibit by copyright the photography
of anything viewable from a public space.
/>Also, this video is only 23 seconds long.

Actually Staubio, if this person is really feeling
generous they might want to sell their prize and donate
the proceeds to your legal defense fund. I count at
least three copyright violations in your video.

Ahh...three things you can always count on:

2) Taxes
3) Whining from people
who think they should have won

Congratz on jumping from 5th to 2nd in less than 48
hours. You must have campaigned hard, what with the
hundreds of last minute users who registered.
/>Merry Christmas.

Congratulations on your winning tactics. In light of
the nature of the vote and considering that you are a
person of faith, I hope you consider donating your
winnings to charity.

The compositing on this looks very nice and music is
chosen wisely to complement it. Well done!

I think the previous post says it all. Somebody uses a
fake account name to question the legitimacy of the
process. You have to laugh at the irony of it, not to
mention the hypocrisy.

reedml: who are you shilling for?how could you possibly
know which users are voting for which videos? if
anybody's IP needs to be blocked, sounds like it's
yours. are you suggesting this is the only video to
have received multiple votes from a single person? you
must be joking! welcome to voting in the internet age.
next time keep your snide comments to yourself.

What you are quite obviously doing is unethical. What
ever happened to a fair fight? One e-mail address, per
one person, per one vote. I surely hope that the
contest officials check the IP addresses that all of
your "fans" are voting from. "tcarr" and "tcarra" or
"rwalker" and "rwalkera". Really lady? Seriously? I
doubt they'd be shocked to find them all coming from a
single computer. You ought to be disqualified. So much
for being a rolemodel, mother.
