I’m not an attorney, but in the course of my job
(software engineer) have been exposed to copyright and
IP law.

The funny thing is ptmaas, your
facts are correct but your interpretation of them is
not. As you yourself noted, if the images are used for
commercial purposes (say, a competition awarding cash
or merchandise prizes) there could be an issue with
copyright...

But ultimately it would be up
to a judge I suppose.

You guys might want to do some research.

Entities may have copyrights on the use of
these symbols for commercial purposes but one cannot
copyright in such a way to prohibit someone from
capturing an image in a public place.

If the
sky stations or Liberty Memorial were being used in a
corporate logo, there would be a copyright claim. A
photographer or videographer, on the other hand, can
capture anything viewable from a public space such as
the streets and sidewalks in the video.
/>Interestingly, the same is not true for the
reproduction of content from a gaming console such as
the Nintendo Wii seen in another video here, per the
Nintendo End User License Agreement.

Actually, you can add Liberty Memorial to that list --
it's protected by copyright as well.

I read your comment on tabletmesiter's video. to you
and everyone like you who has a problem with the system
that Mazuma has set up, why not direct your comment to
Mazuma? by the way, are you aware the Bartle skyline
art is a copyrighted image?

Description:
Without the context of history and a variety of neighborhoods, people and places, the larger concept of community disappears. I\'m all about discovering a sense of place in our city by having a relationship with it and working to make it a better place to live, work and play for everyone everywhere -- through neighborhood leadership, volunteering and the spreading of goodwill. Striving to know and understand more about our city is the first step in making it great.
